Gotcha Day!!

We have our little guy!! We went to the provincial office this morning at 10:15. We were there with the Lynn's and there was another family from Norway. He was there with the provincial director. He seemed to warm up easily, but when we left the building to drive back to the hotel he cried off and on. Back at the hotel, we completed our paperwork with Anna, our facilitator, while Morgan proceeded to take out every toy we brought. He was soon playing and even singing!! After Anna left, I took off his 5 layers of clothes and took him to the potty. He was scared at first since he was use to a swatty potty, but he went pee pee.

He does have a pretty good cough and his face is healing from a fall. He had four stitches above his right eye. Tony has them at the hotel playroom right now. When they were walking out the door I said zai jian (goodbye) and he started crying. I then walked down to the playroom with them and he was fine.

Tomorrow we go back to the provincial office to turn in our paperwork, do our interview, and take pictures for his chinese passport. Please keep us in your prayers!!

Jax's Forever Family Survives the Forever Plane Ride

We are finally in Changsha, HuNan Province. The fifteen hour plane ride from LAX to Guangzhou was about 6 hours beyond my sanity. There was only one American movie. It was "Kit Kittredge: An American Girl." Needless to say I slept as much as possible. Once we arrived in Guangzhou we had a short plane ride to Changsha. Our facilitator, Anna, met us at the airport. It was about 30 minutes to the Dolton Hotel. The hotel is really nice. The girls went swimming in the indoor pool at the hotel, and now Morgan is taking a nap before we meet the Lynn's for dinner. I think tonight we will just eat in the hotel.

It's hard to believe tomorrow will be Jax's Gotcha Day. I don't think it has really hit me yet that tomorrow I will have a new son. I'm nervous about his reaction to us since I'm not sure how much information they have told him about his adoption. Hopefully they have been preparing him.

The attached picture was taken at LAX. While going through security Tony met the pilot of our plane, so we took a picture with him.

The Beginning of the End

This is the beginning of the end of our adoption journey. Finally!! With a dossier sitting in China for over two years, a special needs adoption sounded like the answer to our prayer for an addition to our family of four.

The first week of December we sent our paperwork to our agency to change to special needs. The following week they sent us a picture of our darling little boy. With heart surgery one year behind him, he looked happy and healthy. Saying no was not an option.

So here we are- three days away from our 15 hour journey to China. John-Luc is ready to stay at grandpa's and grandma's and Morgan is excited, but scared, to travel back to her country of birth.

We are so blessed to be able to travel with another family from Colorado, Joe and Lisa Lynn. They've already proved to be a great support to us as we anxiously waited for our "invitation to travel." Their four year old daughter, Aliya, is also traveling with them, so Morgan will have a new friend. It will be an exciting time for both families.
